I t starts vegetal, aqueous, slightly rooty, bland, lacking sweetness and substance. In comparison, Encre Noire à l`Extrême is gritty, presenting consistency and complexity right from this stage.
At first, Encre Noire showcases some perspiration odour and the passage of time only heightens this feature, a good thing I would say because it takes the scent out of the anonymous beginning. And it combines well with the aforesaid vegetal note. In this regard, Encre Noire à l`Extrême is less sweaty, more friendly and easy-going, so less challenging.
Then it warms up, the woodiness amplifies, some faint bitterness seeps in, and the perfume achieves solidity. The vegetal aspect and the washed-out sweetness stay in place until the end.
It resembles Encre Noire Sport through the obvious aquatic facet, although not authoritatively as that one. If Encre Noire Sport is more aquatic and has less vetiver, Encre Noire contains more vetiver, being less aqueous. Encre Noire à l`Extrême is way far from the two, in a league of its own, richer, bolder and more satisfying for the nose.
Out of these three Lalique fragrances, I do not perceive the so called "ink note" in Encre Noire, only in Encre Noire à l`Extrême.
Encre Noire is alright once it gets past the shy start and exposes its bolder assets. Only several hours after the spraying on clothes does it diffuse smoky notes and enter the Encre Noire à l`Extrême's territory through the burnt soil note, even if quite timidly.
Intensity-wise, it is not satisfying, but it persists on the same blouse until the next day.
Encre Noire did not say a lot to me at first, but I came to accept it once I wear it heavily. It is the vegetal-watery note and the intensity that make it only a runner-up to me, the first place being occupied by Encre Noire à l`Extrême at a considerable distance.
My verdict: 8 out of 10.

Inițial, Encre Noire se prezintă ușor asudat, iar trecerea timpului îi exacerbează această caracteristică, un lucru bun după mine, căci îl scoate din anonimatul începutului. Și dă bine în combinație cu nota vegetală menționată anterior. Din acest punct de vedere, Encre Noire à l`Extrême este mai puțin transpirat, mai prietenos și relaxat, deci mai puțin provocator.
Apoi se încălzește, partea lemnoasă se amplifică, se inserează o ușoară amăreală și parfumul căpăta soliditate. Partea vegetală și dulceața palidă rămân pe loc până la sfârșit.
Se aseamănă cu Encre Noire Sport prin tenta acvatică evidentă, deși nedominantă ca la acela. Dacă Encre Noire Sport este mai mult acvatic și are puțin vetiver, Encre Noire conține mai mult vetiver, fiind mai puțin acvatic. Iar Encre Noire à l`Extrême se află la mare distanță de cele două mirosind mai bogat, mai îndrăzneț și mai satisfăcător.
Dintre aceste trei parfumuri Lalique, nu simt așa-numita „notă de cerneală” în Encre Noire, ci în Encre Noire à l`Extrême.
