I ncense Oud is the second perfume after Vierges et Toreros by ÉtVierges et Toreros by État Libre d'Orange that initially "shocked" me, and sparked clearly defined thoughts and images in my mind about it.
I can state that Incense Oud falls into the spicy hot category. Immediately smells sharp, lively, piquant. The first thing that comes to me is the flavour of powdered chilli, but in a very condensed form, without the sweetness akin to dried tomatoes, and also without smelling dry. The sharp and piquant aroma reminds me of Vanhera by Laboratorio Olfattivo.
Simultaneously, there is something medicinal, austere. The scent is quite dense, almost dark; I want to say close to black rubber, but it really does not go up there.
After a few minutes, an intense table salt note stands out in relief. This transports me back to the countryside, to the odour emanating from the solution left in the cauldron where the peasant woman made her own handcrafted soap. To be clear, this has nothing to do with the soap aroma, but with the sodium chloride which she adds during the soap boiling process. And is this salted note that brings to mind another fragrance, Not a Perfume by Juliette has a Gun, although its salted facet shines less.
But Incense Oud does not stop here. The third element that it seems to incorporate is the concentrated mothballs aroma, the one smelled in my parents' closets when I was young. I always thought of it as interesting. Back then, mothballs were made of naphthalene, which is not the case anymore, seeing that they were banned in the E.U.
Incense Oud reunites all the aforesaid odours plus something fresh (for lack of a better word) which does not come from a particular note. Yet the perfume is dominated by the powdered chilli aroma. The result is intriguing, different from any fragrances that I know. I initially found it difficult, however I came to the conclusion that it was a false impression. It has nothing unpleasant and it is more of an individualist, but in a good way.
Out of all the scents I owned by now containing real oud, like Wonderoud by Comme des Garçones and Oud Assam by Rania J., Incense Oud proves to be the most daring of them all by far.
The intensity and the persistence are good.

I ncense Oud este al doilea parfum după Vierges et Toreros de État Libre d'Orange care m-a „șocat” inițial și care mi-a aprins gânduri și imagini definite clar în minte cu care să-l asociez.
Îl încadrez pe Incense Oud în categoria condimentat-iute. Miroase imediat ascuțit, aprins, înțepător, picant. Primul lucru care îmi vine în gând este aroma pudrei de ardei iute, dar într-o formă foarte concentrată, fără dulceața aproape ca de roșii uscate asociată și fără să miroasă uscat. Mirosul înțepător și picant îmi amintește de Vanhera de Laboratorio Olfattivo.
Concomitent, simt și ceva medicinal, auster. Parfumul este destul de dens, aproape întunecat; aș vrea să zic precum cauciucul negru, dar nu ajunge în niciun caz până acolo.
După câteva minute, din Incense Oud se reliefează o notă intensă de sare de masă. Aceasta mă duce cu gândul la țară, la mirosul soluției rămase în ceaunul în care femeia din sat și-a făcut săpun de casă. Ca să fie clar, nu are nicio legatură cu aroma de săpun, ci cu clorura de sodiu care se adaugă în procesul fierberii săpunului. Și datorită acestei note sărate, un alt parfum mi-a apărut imediat în minte, Not a Perfume de Juliette has a Gun, cu toate că aspectul sărat al acestuia din urmă este mai palid.
Dar Incense Oud nu se oprește aici. Al treilea element pe care pare să-l încorporeze este mirosul concentrat de naftalină, cea mirosită în dulapurile de haine ale părinților când eram mică. Mereu mi s-a părut că are o aromă interesantă. Pe atunci, pastilele albe conțineau molecula adevărată de naftalină, nemaifiind cazul astăzi, fiind interzise în U.E.
Incense Oud reunește toate aromele descrise mai sus plus o așa-zisă prospețime (nu găsesc un cuvânt mai potrivit) pe care nu o pot lega de nicio notă în particular. Însă parfumul este dominat de mirosul de pudră de ardei iute. Rezultatul este neobișnuit, diferit de orice parfum întâlnit până acum. Mi s-a părut dificil inițial, dar am realizat că a fost doar o impresie falsă. Nu are nimic neplăcut și este doar individualist, dar în sensul bun.
Dintre parfumurile cu oud adevărat în compoziție avute până acum, precum Wonderoud de Comme des Garçones și Oud Assam de Rania J., Incense Oud se dovedește a fi cel mai îndrăzneț dintre ele și aceasta la mare distanță.
Intensitatea și persistența sunt bune.
