 Some perfumes remind me of the aftershave scent that my father used to splash on his face in my childhood years (he had Denim Original and patchouli is probably the triggering element that links the two events for me). Paloma Picasso goes further and takes me back to the shaving
foam aroma he used to utilize then, probably from Gillette, but I would not swear by it.

It is a dense, dark, almost bitter fragrance, with floral nuances (I cannot distinguish between them), and vegetal ones which leave me with the impression of a very concentrated herbaceous sap. Yet it has nothing heavy or stuffy in it.

I am not really fond of its odour in the beginning, especially what lingers in the air. I sprayed some on my clothes, I went out the door, and when I came back after two minutes, the room smelled bad. I felt something like a combination of sap, hyacinth, and a homeless person's scent. Unlike Cuir Andalou by Rania J. which gives off a perspiration vibe, both sophisticated and wearable (at least for me), Paloma Picasso will get on people's nerves at first.

The only stage that completely satisfies me is the dry-down. When I pulled the same blouse over my head the next day, I felt the fragrance left on it from yesterday and it was excellent. The disagreeable phase had already dissipated. The perfume is slightly more floral and the original density sits on the same position. So the persistence is ok. It is bad in terms of intensity. Maybe the ones around me may be able to perceive it, but I do not, and only for the first half an hour from the application.

The fragrance maintains its masculine character through and through. So a man has no problem wearing it. The standard image of the female who uses Paloma Picasso is the business woman dressed in a two-piece, walking in high heels and having an up-do.

Paloma Picasso is part of the same category of mature and serious perfumes as Aromatics Elixir by Clinique.

My verdict: 9 out of 10.

 Unele parfumuri îmi amintesc de mirosul after-shave-ului folosit de tatăl meu în copilărie (utiliza Denim Original și probabil că paciuliul este elementul declanșator care unește cele două elemente). Paloma Picasso merge ceva mai departe și mă duce cu gândul la aroma spumei de ras pe care o întrebuința atunci, posibil de la firma Gillette, dar nu bag mâna în foc. 

Este un miros dens, întunecat, aproape amar, cu nuanțe florale (nu reușesc să disting ceva anume) și vegetale ce lasă impresia unei seve foarte concentrate de erbacee. Cu toate acestea, nu are nimic greu sau sufocant în el.

Nu prea îmi place cum miroase inițial, mai ales simțit de la distanță, în aer. M-am dat cu el pe haine, am ieșit din cameră, iar când m-am întors după două minute, încăperea mirosea neplăcut. Pare ceva în genul unei combinații de sevă, zambilă și miros de persoană fără adăpost. Spre deosebire de Cuir Andalou de Rania J. care emană o transpirație ușoară, atât sofisticată, cât și purtabilă (cel puțin pentru mine), Paloma Picasso nu va fi pe placul celor din jur la început.

Singura etapă care mă satisface complet este cea a notelor de bază. Când mi-am tras aceeași bluză peste cap a doua zi, am simțit parfumul rămas pe ea de ieri și a fost excelent. Partea dezagreabilă s-a evaporat în acest stadiu. Parfumul este ceva mai floral, densitatea originală rămânând neschimbată. Așa că persistența este bună. Cu intensitatea stă foarte prost. Poate cei din jurul meu îl simt, dar eu personal nu, doar în prima jumătate de oră de la aplicare.

Parfumul își menține caracterul masculin de la început până la sfârșit. Deci un bărbat îl poate purta fără probleme. Imaginea standard a celei care se dă cu Paloma Picasso este femeia de afaceri îmbrăcată într-un deux-pièces ce merge pe tocuri înalte și are coc. 

Paloma Picasso face parte din aceeași categorie de parfumuri mature și serioase ca Aromatics Elixir de Clinique.
