I mmediately after No V - Incense Extrême hits my skin, I predominantly sense a spicy note reminiscent of cardamom seeds which bring softness and a cold sensation. Five minutes in and the scent starts to develop a fizziness and a very faint powderiness that I like.

The perfume is a little tart and I smell the juice of a citrus fruit, possibly of orange although it could also be of mandarin. It makes me think of those effervescent vitamins sold as tablets stacked inside vertical, slim plastic tubes that you dissolve in a glass of water and which have a medicinal aspect to them.

I also smell a sort of a vegetal note and only by looking at the pyramid of notes I can identify it as the petitgrain.

In the drydown, the fragrance warms up a little with the sweetness still kept at minimum.

Every element that I've mentioned so far seems to have been added with a light touch in such a manner that none disturbs my nose and none jumps in front of the others. The result is almost abstract.

Not a bad fragrance and I admit it has a component that it is attractive; it probably comes from the dominant soft woodiness which behaves like wearing a comfortable sweater on a winter's day, sitting on the sofa with a cocooning blanket wrapped around and reading a book in a quiet room, incompletely heated. This makes me add a point to the 7 out of 10 that it deserves.

Having said that, I cannot help but feel that there is a hole in No V - Incense Extrême that needs to be filled with at least another ingredient. I find the composition a little too simple for my taste.

The intensity stays low, however, I can smell the perfume on me when I move. It persists days in a row on clothes.

Incense flash and Patch flash by Tauer, both complete and rich-smelling fragrances, remain my favourites of this brand.

My verdict: 8 out of 10.
