 Once I took it out of its box and sprayed it on me, I was greeted by an aromatic, a bit effervescent, coniferous odour, akin to pine plus orange juice, reminding me of the beginning of L'Homme by Versace. I do not like this orange aspect, making Kouros smell cheap. Fortunatelly, as it happened to me with other fragrances, after I started wearing it regularly, I had not perceived anymore the initial scent (the orange juice in this instance), the perfume starting directly from the second evolution stage.

Minutes later and Kouros becomes interesting. What appears is a black rubber, dry, tarry, maybe even astringent, strikingly similar to the one in Gomma by Etro and Rien by État Libre d'Orange. The difference: the rubber is high-pitched and pointy, slightly queasy in Rien, while it smells difusse and round in Kouros. This facet is joined by an acrid-sour note, rather pale, which makes me think of Bandit by Robert Piguet, without its sweaty nuance however.

Kouros improves after a few hours, in which moment the aromatic part disappears. The rubber and the acrid-sour notes, the two elements that govern its character, now smell more concentrated: the former turns a little smoky and darker, while the latter intensifies, sketching a wannabe sweat, necesarry to provide energy to Kouros. And only here I can say this fragrance is worthy of being worn.

One thing though: Kouros reaches this development stage solely when I spray it directly on skin. Applied on clothes, it perseveres in its initial phase, lacking in vigour that is; however, it catches up on vitality only the next day when what is the point really?

Furthermore, if I want to completely dissect the perfume, I detect an extremely vague stale urine odour when I stick the nose to my skin and breathe in deeply. But it does not seem cumbersome. Plus it is so well immersed in the composition that I cannot feel it at all from a distance, a good thing.

In conclusion, Kouros does not smell bad. Additionally, it is not sweet, which I prefer, and takes the masculine route for sure.

I am glad that I am not familiar with its earlier versions as I would have probably been disappointed by the reformulation from the present. Even so, this latest variant could have been audacious. It deserves an 8, yet I am giving it a 9 for the drydown. Otherwise, I do not regret in the least that I bought a bottle.

The intensity and persistence are very good.

My verdict: 9 out of 10.

 După ce l-am scos din cutie și l-am pulverizat pe mine, am fost întâmpinată de un miros aromat, vag efervescent, de conifere, ca de pin combinat cu suc de portocale, amintind de începutul lui L'Homme de Versace. Nu-mi place acest aspect de portocale în Kouros, făcându-l să miroasă ieftin. Din fericire însă, așa cum am observat și cu alte parfumuri, odată ce am ajuns să-l port în mod regulat, nu am mai simțit aroma de început (sucul de portocale în cazul de față), parfumul pornind direct din stadiul al doilea de evoluție.

Peste câteva minute, Kouros devine mai interesant. Apare un cauciuc negru, uscat, gudronat, poate și astringent, extrem de similar cu cel din Gomma de Etro și din Rien de État Libre d'Orange. Diferența: cauciucul este penetrant, ascuțit, chiar puțin grețos în Rien, în timp ce miroase difuz și rotund în Kouros. Acestei fațete i se alătură o notă acră, destul de palidă, care mă duce cu gândul la Bandit de Robert Piguet, însă fără nuanța asudată a acestuia din urmă.

Kouros se îmbunătățește considerabil după mai multe ore, moment în care dispare partea aromată. Nota de cauciuc și acreala, cele două elemente care îi determină caracterul, miros mai concentrat acum: prima devine ușor afumată și mai întunecată, iar a doua se intensifică, schițând o sudoare nederanjantă, dar necesară pentru a-i da energie lui Kouros. Și abia aici pot spune că găsesc parfumul demn de a fi purtat.

Un lucru important: Kouros atinge acest stadiu de dezvoltare doar când îl pulverizez direct pe piele. Dat pe haine, rămâne în faza de început mult timp, adică lipsit de vlagă; însă recuperează din teren abia a doua zi când ce rost mai are, sincer?

Mai mult, dacă vreau să disec parfumul în profunzime, detectez o aromă extrem de vagă de urină stătută doar când îmi lipesc nasul de piele și inspir adânc. Dar nu pare stânjenitoare. Plus că este înglobată atât de bine în compoziție încât nu o simt deloc de la distanță, un lucru bun.

În concluzie, Kouros nu miroase neplăcut. În plus, nu este dulce defel, ceea ce prefer și se duce clar în zona masculină.

Mă bucur că nu îi cunosc versiunile anterioare, căci aș fi fost dezamăgită probabil de refomularea din prezent. Chiar și așa, această variantă de față putea să fie mai îndrăzneață. Merită nota 8, dar îi dau 9 pentru cum miroase în faza finală. Așadar, nu regret deloc că mi-am luat o sticlă.

Intensitatea și persistența sunt foarte bune.
