I  am greeted with an overripe (brown) banana odour immediately. That is so surprising to me. I had an official 2 ml sample of Malt and I have never experienced this smell there. But I eventually realised that it integrates well into the fragrance. The overripe banana aroma reaches far into the drydown, diminishing greatly in intensity as it moves forward.

Now, after two months of wearing the scent, I am also greeted with a green olives (maybe even black) smell which lasts quite a long time and I like this so much.

What conquered me and led me into buying a full bottle of Malt was its beer note. Slightly effervescent, the beer is not fresh but rather spilled on the floor some time ago. It also resembles the odour that lingers in the air around a tavern. So it feels diluted, which makes the perfume very wearable.

The beer's bitterness is quite present as is its fresh yeast component, the latter eventually morphing into a dried bread odour (that simple and low-cost white French bread, not very long, with three diagonal cuts on the upper side).

I am spotting a worn-out car tyre element as well. The effect is industrial and a tad dry, the somewhat dryness replacing the fizziness from the opening. By looking at the list of notes, I can see how this could be the leather accord.

I enjoy everything about Malt. I initially considered the sweetness, which is not exagerated by the way, discordant but now I appreciate the tension it creates with the bitterness. There is one exception though: the fragrance smells synthetic in the beginning, after which the passing of time smooths things out.

A very nice perfume, more on the masculine side.

My verdict: 9 out of 10.
