Tested in the store, Yuzu Fou greeted me with a cloud of citrussy and perfumed perspiration. My immediate reaction was "Ooh!" followed by "Mmm, quite interesting!" Now that I use it regularly, I do not perceive anymore that opening, even though the sweaty facet exists in the scent at a lower and wearable level.
The citrussy element represents the main player through and through: sweet, aromatic, slightly juicy, a little bit tart, fizzy at times, and making my mouth water sometimes.
The fragrance also has bitter and astringent nuances which I can see as deriving either from the peel of these fruits or from the (tree) moss. The latter constitues the second major component of Yuzu Fou. Even if it does not appear amongst the listed notes, it manifests itself with clarity and conviction. Its mossy, herbal and dry odour bestows seriousness and maturity. Together with the citruses and a floral-fresh facet, calm and round, results in an amazing combination.
The fascinating fact about this perfume is its way of metamorphosing according to the environment:
- When I wear it outside, to a temperature so low that I can see the water vapors of my own breath, Yuzu Fou smells dense, juicy, floral-citrussy, with the moss partially out of sight.
- When I spray it inside the house, on my freshly washed hair, near the neck, I feel it mostly mossy and drier. And it is so good in this form! It closely resembles the moss from the current edt formula of Jean-Louis Scherrer by Jean-Louis Scherrer.
- When I wear it in the house on a daily basis, it often smells predominantly green, chewy (imagine a cream-coloured and smooth pencil eraser), flat, almost like it is missing notes: the citrussy part lacks the juiciness and the moss is blurred. It must be olfactory fatigue. Applying the fragrance exclusively on the skin - as opposed to clothes - improves the situation sometimes.
Overall, Yuzu Fou has body and persistence. An excellent fragrance.

Testat în magazin, Yuzu Fou m-a întâmpinat cu un nor de perspirație citrică și parfumată. Reacția mea imediată a fost de „Ooo!” urmată de „Mmm, chiar interesant!” Acum că îl folosesc regulat, nu mai percep acel început, cu toate că fațeta asudată există în parfum la un nivel domolit și purtabil.
Elementul citric reprezintă actorul principal de la început până la sfârșit: dulceag, aromat, ușor zemos, puțin de tot acrișor, vag efervescent și provocându-mi câteodată senzația de apă în gură.
Parfumul are și nuanțe amărui și astringente pe care le pot vedea ca derivând fie din coaja acestui tip de fruct, fie din mușchiul de copac. Acesta din urmă constituie cea de-a doua componentă majoră a lui Yuzu Fou. Chiar dacă nu apare printre notele listate, el se manifestă clar și cu convingere. Mirosul său „mossy”, ierbos și uscat conferă seriozitate și maturitate. Împreună cu citricele și cu o fațetă floral-proaspătă, calmă și rotundă, produce o combinație nemaipomenită.
Extrem de interesant la acest parfum este modul în care se metamorfozează în funcție de mediul ambiant:
- când îl port afară, pe o temperatură atât de joasă încât îmi văd aburii respirației proprii, Yuzu Fou miroase dens, zemos, citric-floral, cu partea de mușchi retrasă puțin din vizor;
- când îl pulverizez în casă pe părul spălat proaspăt, în zona gâtului, îl simt foarte „mossy” și mai uscat. Și este atât de bun în această fază! Seamănă mult cu mușchiul din formula curentă a apei de toaletă Jean-Louis Scherrer de Jean-Louis Scherrer;
- când îl port în casă zi de zi, miroase deseori predominant verde, gumat (ca o gumă de șters netedă, de culoare crem), plat, parcă lipsindu-i din note: partea citrică nu are suculență, iar mușchiul este șters. Probabil este vorba de oboseala olfactivă. Aplicând parfumul exclusiv pe piele - și nu pe haine - îmbunătățesc situația câteodată.
Per asamblu, Yuzu Fou este corpolent și persistent. Un parfum excelent.
