I  tested Ambre in the store, on the skin. I clearly sensed a resinous note and something sweet, but not excessive. Although it did not fill me with enthusiasm, I bought it the same day. After having it sprayed a few times, I arrived to perceive it differently since it settled down into a
very sweet fragrance similar to a jam. I am not able to identify what kinds of fruits were used; it seems more like a mixture in which, I would say, exists also a dose of oranges boiled together with their peel. The jam is not thick and heavy and is exactly this slightly airy aspect that saves it from being nauseating. I would even say that it gives off a certain easiness and relaxation.

Ambre is linear, keeping the same odour from the beginning until the end of the dry down. As such, the resinous scent maintains its visibility all the way through.
What I believe is making the perfume interesting and bearable to me is the aromatic smell that I am feeling. I do not think this is the right word as I am observing that it does not contains the specific plants like lavender, thyme or similar that could contribute to something like that. I am oblivious to what is producing it, but it certainly gives me pleasure.

Overall, Ambre leads me to think of warmth, comfort, mildness.

An intriguing fact is when, one day, I entered the living room and felt the smell of rice pudding. Before I even put the question if someone cooked that dessert, I realized that, wait a minute, it sort of reminds me of something else familiar. I gathered in a few seconds that it must be Ambre; and, yes, somebody just sprayed it on herself before getting out the door. In fact, what I smelled was the vanilla from the rice pudding because the odour in the room was neither of milk nor of rice.
And if I think even deeply now, I guess it smelled of unsweetened rice pudding into which, once poured in the mug, I am adding jam instead of the habitual sugar. All the flavours interwine and mutually dilute themselves, the jam dominating in the end, followed by the vanilla.

Ambre smells completely natural through and through, nothing artificial appearing on the horizon. The intensity is reduced and this is a good thing for me as it does not bother my nose with what I consider to be an excessive sweetness. Much as I am not keen on sweet fragrance, Ambre feels ok. But Eau d'Iparie by L'Occitane en Provence is so much more to my taste.

In a nutshell: feminine, youthful, very sweet, aromatic, airy-resinous, vanilla flavoured.

My verdict: 8 out of 10.
